Presenter Name & Short Bio:
Simon Fitzpatrick
Based in Northumberland, Simon has over 20 years’ experience of computer-assisted learning and teaching, mainly in the Education field.
Originally a history teacher, he moved into ICT teaching in vocational sector during which he gained an MA from Leicester in Educational Technology. He moved into Higher Education in 1990 and spent several years at Leicester University supporting staff in the transition from traditional teaching to elearning. He joined Newcastle University inA
1999 as Director of the new Learning and Teaching Support Unit and was instrumental in launching a campus-wide VLE as well as developing several online learning projects. More recent work includes a number of large elearning projects for the NHS. He is completing his Doctorate in education at Durham University.
His interests including the pedagogy of e-learning and how the theory relates to the reality of learning online. When not staring at computer screens he is an active bluegrass musician.
